Firstly, this is a way to be experts at what we do. Designers should be close to the means of production. Now, we are aware that we operate 19th and early 20th century printing presses. But since they are back in vogue, we'll run with it.
The work we do in our print-shop is both production oriented and experimental. We produce products and ephemera for clients, and our retailers. And we offer most of what we make in our storefront, even if it's limited edition and rare.
Printing is a way to test our hypotheses, on type design and visual design in a range of exercises. Some things are tried and true, some things are in a prototype phase.
If you are invited to the studio, please feel free to ask what the hell this is all about.
